The Kings College London contribution to the IKC is lead by Dr Kai Xu with a focus on ultra-low-power circuits and systems for wireless communication and AI.

Dr. Kai leads a research program centered on two primary applications: (1) next-generation (5G/6G) wireless transceivers and (2) energy-efficient AI accelerators for edge computing. The core technical approaches are analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design and heterogeneous system integration. Key research topics within these areas include:

  • Circuit Design: High-performance clock generation and advanced radio transceivers.

  • Novel Computing Paradigms: Analog-in-memory computing for matrix-vector multiplication in neural networks.

  • Materials & Integration: Heterogeneous integration of emerging semiconductor materials to develop high-density non-volatile memory architectures and high-power RF front-ends.
