STFC mission is to deliver world-leading national and international research and innovation capabilities and support fundamental research in astronomy, physics, computational science and space science. 

The STFC Interconnect group provide electronics assembly and packaging services for electronic systems with a primary focus on the assembly and packaging of semiconductor devices such as readout ASICs combined with a variety of radiation detectors.

The STFC Microelectronics Support Centre is one of the Europractice partners and provide design support services, such as granting access to particular design tools and providing training. They provide a comprehensive range of leading design tools for analogue, digital and mixed signal IC design; Photonics, MEMS, FPGA and Systems development; Atomistic, semiconductor and device modelling; PCBs, interconnect and much more. Europractice design tools are available to universities and research institutes who are Europractice members from eligible countries. Design tools can be used by members for their academic teaching and non-commercial research purposes only.
