CHIMES2 supported the UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UKESF) Girls into Electronics event held at the University of Sheffield on the 8th of July. Designed to address gender disparity in engineering and showcase the possibilities within microelectronics and semiconductor technologies, the interactive day welcomed secondary school students from across the region to explore the world of hardware engineering.
Pupils from across South Yorkshire gathered for an action-packed day designed to ignite their passion for electronics. The immersive schedule featured a taster lecture by Professor Mahnaz Arvaneh, a hands-on microcontroller lab using GROVE Arduino kits, and an interactive robotics challenge with Zumbobots. To cap off the event, students took part in an inspiring Q&A session with Apple Engineer Jacob Kay, offering them an invaluable glimpse into real-world engineering careers.
