On Thursday the 18th of June, CHIMES² Co-I and Executive Director of Insigneo Institute Professor Jim Wild welcomed over 200 guests across academia, healthcare and industry at the 2026 Insigneo Showcase. This annual event serves as a premier gathering for the UK’s research, healthcare, and industrial sectors, focusing on the latest advancements in in silico medicine and medical technology.
The Centre for Heterogeneous Integrated MicroElectronic and Semiconductor Systems (CHIMES²) exists to help close the gap between novel devices and manufacturable integrated systems. From wearable sensors and implantable devices to advanced imaging and AI-enabled diagnostics, many future healthcare technologies will depend on semiconductor systems that can combine sensing, processing, communication and power in compact, reliable forms. At our stand, we spoke with healthcare innovators, researchers, and industry partners to share how CHIMES is bridging the gap between microelectronics research and practical application.
