Advancing HI Capabilities: CHIMES2 at IMAPS-UK 2026

CHIMES2 recently contributed to the IMAPS-UK "Heterogeneous Integration – Explained!" workshop at the University of Southampton, where team members Ibrahim Sari and John Darlington shared expertise on advanced microelectronics packaging.

CHIMES2 was pleased to support and contribute to the IMAPS-UK "Heterogeneous Integration – Explained!" Half-Day Workshop, hosted at the University of Southampton on Wednesday 25th of March. The event brought together leading minds across academia and industry to discuss the vital role of Heterogeneous Integration (HI) in driving the next generation of semiconductor and microelectronics technology.

Starting with a networking lunch, CHIMES2 Co-I Ibrahim Sari kicked off the technical sessions with a foundational talk: "Heterogeneous Integration (HI) – What is it?" CHIMES Co-I John Darlington contributed to an expert panel session offering perspectives on how UK research hubs and industry partners can bridge the gap between early-stage innovation and commercial deployment.

The workshop concluded with a guided, behind-the-scenes tour of the world-class nanofabrication facilities at the University of Southampton. Attendees saw firsthand the advanced cleanroom capabilities supporting cutting-edge packaging and microfabrication research in the UK.
